In 2010 Agilent initiated the sponsorship of a novel research award which is presented annually by the German Mass Spectrometry Society (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Massenspektrometrie, DGMS). The “Agilent Mass Spec Research Summer” is awarded to Ph.D. students working on the field of mass spectrometry or related topics making use of data obtained by mass spectrometry. Successful applicants will be granted access to Agilent’s applications and demo-lab located in Waldbronn to perform mass spectrometric research utilizing all available instruments for two months. Furthermore, Agilent will cover expenses for accommodation and will also provide lunches at their canteen throughout the awardee’s stay in Waldbronn. The suggested period for the research stay is July to September.
Applicants are requested to provide the following documents:
- Filled application form
- A one-page research proposal stating which instruments are required for the planned experiments.
- CV, Copies of either diploma or M.Sc. certifications
- A letter of support from your supervisor
All applications will be evaluated by an independent selection committee. Submissions for the award presented in 2019 should be made to the chairperson of the committee, Prof. Dr. Mario Thevis, by January 31st 2019. Awardees are obliged to present their data and results at the subsequent DGMS conference (i.e., oral presentation at the 2020 conference).
